Wingate Avenue Community Centre is a community facility for people who reside or work in the City of Moonee Valley. The Centre is able to provide information, advice, assistance and training to people residing in this area. The Centre provides these services through: Neighbourhood House Activities Courses and Workshops Social and Support Groups Essendon Community Legal Centre Inc. Adult Migrant Education Program Moonee Valley Settlement Services City of Moonee Valley Maternal & Child Health Service Occasional Childcare Service Trinkets Op Shop All persons using the centre have a right to: Be treated fairly; Be treated with respect; Feel safe in the centre; Be free from harassment, discrimination & physical or verbal abuse; Have a comfortable & welcoming environment; Have their needs listened to. All persons using the centre are expected to: Treat each other fairly & equally; Respect other people’s differences; Conduct themselves in an appropriate manner; Use centre equipment and furniture carefully; Harassment of any form is not acceptable at Wingate Avenue Community Centre. Harassment based on gender, race ethnicity, religion, size, age, disability, sexual preference which may include sexist or racist language, or physical or verbal abuse is a criminal offence. If a person is behaving in an inappropriate manner they will be asked to leave the centre. If necessary the matter will be reported to the police. If you feel that you are being treated unfairly you can speak to Jan Thorpe Centre Manager or you can contact the Committee of Management, 13a Wingate Avenue, Ascot Vale 3032. The Committee of Management meets monthly and will respond to any concerns about the centre that can’t be resolved with the Centre Co-ordinators.
